In Africa, you have to watch over your shoulder for wild animals while you fish--which adds an additional thrill to the sport! The story is told in an insert inside the box for every adventurous angler to enjoy.  These collections are original products designed for The Kenyan Collection. The banana box, the brass or bone adornment and the flies inside are all handmade. The 4 regional collections (East Coast, Midwest, West Coast and Kenyan) have 30 flies (2 each of 15 patterns); the Bass and Saltwater Collections have 6 lures each.

Beaded Horse Browband
The browbands are hand beaded on fine brown or black leather, come in 14", 15", and 16" lengths, and are available in the same beautiful colors as the The Kenyan Collection's best-selling pet collars--primary colors, earth tones, silvery-hologram and black and white, known as "zebra".   These browbands will make the horses that wear them stand out among the crowd.

Beaded Pet Collars

Customers tell us these are the highest quality and most unique beaded collars they have ever seen. The beading is done by Maasai "mamas" working in their home area.  By meeting with their coordinator weekly to receive materials, the artisans can earn a living while maintaining their rural and more traditional lifestyle. Averaging one collar per day, the mamas create these original, one-of-a-kind designs. Beads are hand sewn in leather, then an overlay of leather is glued and stitched on the back. Buckles are solid, hand-cast brass.  Available in primary colors, earth tones, a black and white "zebra" pattern, a gold "cheetah" pattern, pink and black, maroon, or in "Spring" (orange, light blue, white); and in three widths: 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch. Collar lengths are from 8 to 24 inches. Lurcher collars available in 2 inch width and in even lengths from 12 to 20 inches. Slip Collars are available in 2" width and in lengths from 14 to 17 inches.  Martingale collars available in one size.  Leads are 4 feet long. Leads are not recommend for dogs that pull or for dogs over 50 pounds.  **SIZING:  For purchasing collars, we ask that you measure your pets neck and order based on the exact measurement plus one inch.  We try hard to fit your pet using the middle hole on the collar as the beading shows up best when it is centered.  Our lengths reflect the measurement from the end of the leather at the buckle to the center hole.  For special order wedding collars, see our listing below.

Carved Wooden Bird Bouquets
Looking for a special gift for nature lovers?  Prefer a lasting gift as an alternative to fresh flowers?  Send that special someone a bouquet of hand-carved wooden birds.  We work directly with the Kenyan artisan, who carves the birds one by one from jacaranda tree trimmings while his wife hand paints the finished birds in a little workshop nearby. Your bouquet comes packed in a floral box with tissue. Bouquets of a half dozen or full dozen are available, and are bundled with gold accent sticks.

Your table will never look the same!  When our customers see these, they just touch them and stare in amazement, fascinated by the ingenuity and painstaking work required to create these table linens from real, preserved plant leaves. The leaves are treated and then preserved with a book binding glue (which also makes them flexible), then hand glued one by one on a base of plain muslin cloth. As they are made from natural leaves, colors vary and from time to time you will find a spot where a Kenyan bug wanted a small taste before the leaf was whisked away to become part of this unique product. Available in the following styles: Red or green leaves in solid pattern or mixed with guinea fowl feathers; eucalyptus leaves; and soft, lamb's ear plant leaves. Two sizes of runners, 13"x72" and 14"x44" and two shapes of place mats available, 14" round and 13"x19" rectangle.

 Cow Horn Home Items

We have always said that the Kenyans are extremely creative.  In offering these items they have learned how to mold cow horn, then stain and/or paint it, resulting in some incredibly fun and earthy looking items.  Flat potpourri bowls, napkin rings, soap dishes, salad servers and jam/salt pots are a few of the items created.  We do not recommend storing food in these, and they should never be used for hot foods.  Available in natural or painted (zebra, giraffe, cheetah, and leopard patterns).
